take care of yourself,

sleep early today!

Okay let’s talk about sleep. At the beginning of this semester, I talked to a friend about her sleep schedule. Well, I got really worried because she basically gets three hours of sleep every day. For many of you, this might be a more extreme case, but I think we all can relate to being a little sleep deprived, and this can really affect our mood and performance. So, I’m here with a little guide to help you sleep a little earlier today!

Stay dedicated to your schedule: This is really all about simple math. If you want to sleep at 11 and you have 3 hours of work to do, look at your schedule and decide when you can squeeze in that three hours. Good news is, this is usually very possible because we actually have a lot more time than we think. The 15 minutes you spend watching TikTok, hmmm maybe skip that on a busy day. Perhaps on some days, you would also have to sacrifice your lunch with friends to get an extra hour. If that’s the case, I encourage you to do so!

You don’t have to do “extra work” if you don’t have time: Sometimes, it feels nice to work ahead, to complete an assignment due two days later or start working on a project due next week. But it really isn’t worth it if it’s taking away the sleep that you need. Learn to be okay with taking a rest once your work for the day is finished and if it’s getting close to your “sleep time”!

No distractions when you work: often times when we are distracted, the work that originally would probably only take 1 hour ends up taking 2 or more hours. In order to prevent that from happening, try to tell yourself “okay, I'm going to concentrate for one hour” and turn off your social media notifications. Better yet, put your phone in another room. You can check anytime for as long as you want after you’re done !

Alright! Hope this helped and please take care of yourselves! To freshman, sophmores, and juniors good luck with exams! And for seniors: it’s the last stretch and I know this is a tough time but remember to still be kind to your body!
